Foreca Weather Symbols
This page provides information about the weather codes used in various Foreca data feeds. Below you will find the mapping between weather codes and symbols.
The codes work as follows:
Letter (D/N) distinguishes day and night symbols from eachother. We provide different symbols for night and daytime since it can cause confusion if daytime symbols are used to describe night time weather.
daytime, overcast, sleet showers: d421
First number indicates cloudiness
1 almost clear
2 half cloudy
5 thin high clouds
Second number indicates precipitation rate
0 no precipitation
1 slight precipitation
Last number indicates type of the precipitation
Mouse over the text codes to see the explanation. Pictures are provided only for some of the codes and nonsensical combinations don't even have standard text descriptions. The forecast symbols can also be mapped by Foreca to any subset of the provided symbols. We suggest only using the ones with pictures provided in any end-user services.
