Unlock global storm intelligence: Access complete hurricane, typhoon, and cyclone tracks, forecasts, and detailed meteorological properties in real-time GeoJSON updates.
This autumn, we've made several significant developments to the Foreca Weather API. We are always striving to improve and find new ways to serve our customers better. Take a look below at the new additions designed to enhance your applications and improve efficiency!
Hurricane API
One of the most exciting additions to the Foreca Weather API is the Hurricane API. This specialized API provides crucial, up-to-date information on tropical cyclones, hurricanes, and typhoons, data essential for proactive monitoring and risk management. The data includes complete storm tracks, forecast points, uncertainty cones, wind speed and intensity classifications, and detailed meteorological properties, in GeoJSON format. Updates are provided in real-time as bulletins are issued (typically every 3–6 hours during active storms).
The Hurricane API is available with the Cirrus package. Please contact sales@foreca.com if you are interested in accessing this feature.

Symbol Map Layer: Enhanced Visualizations
The Foreca API now includes the Symbol map layer, offering a new way to display weather information visually on maps. The Symbol layer utilizes a standardized set of weather symbols (icons) to represent current and forecasted weather conditions, making it easier to quickly interpret the weather situation at a glance. Integrators can leverage this feature to create more intuitive and visually appealing weather maps for their applications and services, ultimately leading to an improved user experience.
The layer is available in Foreca Map API for all subscribers.
Multi-Location Queries: Increased Efficiency
We've improved data retrieval by enabling you to fetch data for multiple locations with a single query. This feature is especially beneficial for applications that need to display weather information for numerous points simultaneously, leading to faster loading times and a more responsive user experience.
Air Quality Map: Alternative Color Palette
The Air Quality (AQ) map visualization now offers alternative color options. This gives you greater flexibility for integration and ensures a better user experience, as you can select different color schemes for displaying AQI levels to guarantee a clear and intuitive display in any application environment.
The new color palette is available in Foreca Map API for all subscribers.
