Foreca Weather Maps

In the following, you can find information about the most used weather maps Foreca provides. All the maps can be animated with a seamlessly continuing sequence of images (time steps). Any map using the standardised tile indexes can be used as the background for the weather overlays. In addition to the weather layers below, don’t hesitate to ask for any other weather maps or their combinations. For instance, all the layer colours, timelines and time steps are customisable with only some limitations.

 

Precipitation Maps

All the Foreca precipitation maps show the intensity of precipitation separated by colour tone levels. The layers contain all types of precipitation like rain, sleet and snow. The precipitation type can be separated and expressed by different colour schemas.

Radar is available for the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia, Turkey, UK, US. Radar Image Map

Radar Image Map. Radar images show the real-time movement of precipitation (rain/snow) detected by weather radars.

The layers are coloured by precipitation intensity (mm/h). The time frame in animations is between -2h to 0h (from past two hours to current conditions) with 15 min time steps. US and Australia are available with 10 min steps. Forecast resolution 1 - 2 km depending on country. Radar is available for limited geographical areas only - see the country list above.

Radar Image Map with Precipitation TypeThe same specifications of the previous map product, but with the example picture of precipitation type separated (rain, sleet, snow).

Radar forecast map

Radar Forecast Map. Radar forecast extrapolated for the following hours from the latest radar images. Foreca predicts how the observed rain front moves to create a continuous series of images for up to 2 following hours. This forecast is commonly used as a visually seamless continuation from radar images.

The layers are coloured by rain intensity with or without precipitation type shown. The time frame in animations is between 0h to +2h with 15-minute time steps. Forecast resolution 1 - 2 km depending on country. Radar is available for a limited number of geographical areas only - see the country list above. 

Nowcast map of precipitation

Nowcast Map. Nowcasting technology provides the most accurate precipitation forecasts for the next 2 hours. Nowcast is based on a global atmospheric forecast model data which has been improved with the latest observational information from weather radars, weather stations and satellites. 

The layers are coloured by rain intensity, with or without precipitation type. The time frame in animations is between 0h to +2h with 15-minute time steps. Forecast resolution 1 - 2 km, depending on the country. Available for Europe.

Precipitation forecast map

Forecast Map. Precipitation forecast maps use coloured contours to show the forecasted rain/snow. Precipitation forecast maps are based on atmospheric forecast model data. Coverage is global.

The layers are coloured by intensity, with or without precipitation type. The time frame in animations is between 0h to +24h, with 1h time steps, and between +24h to +72h, with 3h time steps. Forecast resolution of 5 km is available globally.

 

 

Cloudiness Maps

Cloudiness maps provide information of cloud movements as forecasted or observed from weather satellites.

 

Satellite image map

Satellite Image Map. Satellite images show the movement of clouds photographed from space by the weather satellites.

Global satellite images with the whole world on the same map is a real attention grabber. In satellite images, you can observe cloud movements for larger areas, which enables you to see big weather phenomena at a glance. You can spot hurricanes and deep low pressures and sometimes even estimate their tracks.

The layers are coloured by cloud thickness. The time frame in animations is between -24h to 0h, with 3h time steps. Forecast resolution of 10 km available globally.

 

Cloudiness nowcast map

Nowcast MapCloudiness provided by Nowcast technology shows the forecast for the next two hours.

Nowcast cloudiness is based on global atmospheric forecast model data, which has been improved with the latest observational information from weather radars, weather stations and satellites. Nowcasting technology provides the most accurate cloudiness forecasts for the next 2 hours. 

The layers are coloured by cloud thickness. Time frame in animations is between 0h to +2h with 15-minute time steps. Forecast resolution of 1 - 2 km, depending on country. Currently, Europe is covered, and other areas can be covered, if needed.

Forecast Map. Cloudiness forecast maps use coloured contours to show the forecasted cloudiness.

The layers are coloured by cloud thickness. Time frame in animations is between 0h to +24h, with 1h time steps, and between +24h to +72h, with 3h time steps. Forecast resolution of 25 km is available globally.

 

Temperature Maps

Temperature forecast maps show the forecasted temperature on the map for upcoming days. The temperature can be visualised with numbers and/or colours to make the forecast easy to read.

 

Temperature nowcast map

Nowcast Map. Temperature provided by Nowcast technology shows the forecast for the next two hours. Nowcast temperature is based on global atmospheric forecast model data, which has been improved with the latest observational information from weather radars, weather stations and second generation satellites. Nowcasting technology provides the most accurate temperature forecasts for the next 2 hours.

The layers are coloured by temperature. Time frame in animations is between 0h to +2h, with 15-min time steps. Forecast resolution 1 - 2 km, depending on the country. Europe-wide coverage.

Forecast Map. Temperature forecast maps show the forecasted temperatures on the map.

Weather shown with icon or as map colored by temperature. Time frame in animations is between 0h to +24h with 1 hour time steps, and between +24h to +72h with 3 hour time steps. Forecast resolution of 10 km available globally.
